Come walk with me. The Lake District.

I just love the Lake District, and as soon as I get home from a visit I immediately book another week, so I’m now going back in September. YEAY!!! Even the pups can’t resist admiring the view. Everywhere we went they were peeping……well , it was their first visit!

This is one of my favourite walks….. Up, up we go through the mountains, a killer on the old thighs but well worth the views. Climbing up alongside the waterfalls is quite tricksy with young energetic dogs. It’s even worse coming dowm! Talk about risking life and limb.

The Lakes are always so very watery, all the old stone walls are mossy and green and water seems to seep through root and rock and mini riverlets are everywhere. Suddenly you find yourself quite high up with the lakes beneath you. And then it’s into the forests. While we were there, three roe deer ran across our path, how wonderful is that? and they just carried on grazing oblivious to us.

Then it’s all downhill to Grasmere and Rydal water….

Miraculously, for once, I didn’t end up getting a soaking, well apart from the endless rain but that comes with the Lakes.

A roam around Rydal caves, the colours of the rocks in here are stunning, greens and reds, astonishing stuff! Really quite magical.

And finally, four hours later and famished, we’re heading back to the little stone cottage we stay in….I wish I was back there, it’s a little piece of heaven. A real escape from city life.
