We’ve had a new shed built which has become my Apothecary.

It’s a real haven, such a marvelous place to sit with a cuppa while the dogs are having a run in the garden. So peaceful and warm.

I bought a second-hand pine table and chairs, very cheaply, online. The table legs and chairs came painted black and are chipped and worn, which I rather like. The cushion covers are new though. All the artwork, apart from the tin posters, is mine. It’s good to get it out of the loft.

I love the sound of the chimes as I brush past them to sit down.

I got this old dresser for a steal online too, very orange looking, but again, I rather like it. Here I have dried herbs in sachets, my essential oils, crystals and glass jars, they will each host a flower come spring, then hopefully throughout the year.

I’ve been collecting old fruit boxes to store my apples, as I’ve now got an apple/cider press. I also have my herb dryer here. What fun I’m going to have. I plan on drying flowers too, something I haven’t done in years.

I’m pleased with these string curtains, they are so light and airy.

The bookcase holds the jars that the dried herbs will go in. I still have plenty from this year. A girl can never have too many herbs!

The painting on the easel was the first painting I had published, it was called In Full Bloom. My sisters had it framed for me.

So, there we have it, my playroom!

And Finally….

a tree of crows to compliment my Apothecary!

Until next time, take care guys. xxx

    It’s Christmas Eve …
Stopping by to wish you and yours Happy Holidays and Happy Christmas 🙂

    All the best Jan

  2. Ooh how exciting ! I have also got shed envy ! I love the large windows which give you lots of light. And you have picked up some wonderful pieces to furnish it with. I am sure you will have many pleasurable hours indulging your gardening passions. Perfect for bird watching too. I can’t wait to hear how your cider turns out.

  3. What an amazing space you have made for yourself, I can see that you will enjoy being in there. I’m sure you will have really enjoyed getting everything sorted and placed in your new hideaway, quite often that is the fun part. I wish you many happy peaceful hours in your new apothecary.

    • Thanks Pauline. I’m still tweaking things in there and adding shelves and lights etc. It has been fun sorting it.xxx

  4. That’s wonderful, and I’m sure that you’ll be enjoying yourself in there for hours.

    • Thanks Flighty. I do enjoy sitting in there with a cup of tea. Still need to add a few thing and get some shelves up.xxx

  5. How can you call that a shed – it’s a tardis. Is it heated? Lovely artwork too.

    • Thanks Sue. A tardis? Loving that. It’s not heated at the moment but I am having some plugs and lights put in so will be able to add a small heater.xxx

  6. How fabulous. Your own little art and craft studio where you can hide away and play to your heart’s content. Wonderful!

  7. Oh, my goodness! If I had such a space, I’d have a hard time leaving it for any reason. You’ve done such a glorious job of putting it all together; it’s deeply appealing. I had no idea you are an artist with a brush as well as with your gardens, although your apothecary makes clear that you have an artist’s eye for detail, even when designing an interior. Everything fits perfectly: so perfectly that I’m casting an eye around my digs, thinking that I really ought to do something with them!

    • Thanks Linda. Pleased you like it. Still need to tweak a few things and add shelves and bits and bobs. I do like sitting in it with a cuppa, it’s strangely calming.xxx

  8. I love it! Not only do I have serious shed envy, but art envy too. You have been hiding your light under a bushel, my friend. Wishing you many happy hours in your apothecary. I can just imagine you sitting there with a cup of tea amid the wonderful smell of herbs and apples. Absolute heaven. xx

    • Why thank you Veggiemummy! It is a lovely space to sit in, very calming. I am going to enjoy sorting herbs and the like, I already have some flowers drying. I’m looking forward to making juice and cider!xxx

Two words to describe this post and your Apothecary.

    Absolutely wonderful 🙂

May you enjoy many happy moments in it.

    All the best Jan

  10. What a wonderful hideaway with all the makings of continuing your garden creativity. As a recipient of one of your wonderful little paintings, I’m admiring the ones you have framed and displayed in this space. That orangey shelf thing? It’s perfect for your purposes with the shallower taller shelves and a work surface if needed. You’ve outfitted the space so well, making good use of vertical and corner nooks. The lighter wood floor and walls take advantage of those gloriously big windows (and string curtain) — well chosen, you!

    • Thanks Anne, the Welsh dresser is great for storage as it has deep cupboards to hold extra jars etc. It is light and airy due to the large windows, good for bird watching with a cuppa.xxx

  11. Dina you have my dream ” She Shed ” !! … that would be so like what I would do with one . I love drying herbs but I don’t have the room to do much at all other than lavender, rosemary, some thyme and oregano … hum ? sounds like a song in that some how ? LOL
I love your “loved” furniture , it is perfect and all your bits and bobs fit in so well … your mini home away from home.
You are going to have such fun surrounded by the pieces you love … well done you !
    Joy 🙂

    • Thanks Joy, now I have that song in my head! I was determined to upcycle the furniture, it’s so easy to acquire online these days. I am enjoying sitting in there, I wish I’d had one put up years ago! Hoping you are recovered now.xxx

  12. Ooooh Dina, what a fabulous retreat, I am GREEN with envy, my friend! And you’ve Dina-ised it all so beautifully! You’re going to have so much fun xxx

  13. Oh wow what a lovely sort of boho, zenist, modern white witch haven your apothecary shed is. I can see lil urchin becoming your apprentice in brewing and drying, lol.

    • Thanks Anne-Marie. Just love your description of it! I do hope Littl’urchin becomes my apprentice! The potions we could create!xxx

  14. What a fantastic haven you have created for yourself.. you are going to be very busy, especially in spring. I love your painting, I didn’t know you are an artist.. along with all your other talents. Are you still helping out with wildlife these days?
I always enjoyed your rescue stories, especially the hedgehogs that had to go into hubby’s study for the night!
Best wishes and enjoy your lovely new creative space. 🌞😊

    • Thanks Gerrie. I can’t wait to start drying herbs and flowers in there.Yes, I still help the rescue, not so much physically these days, but I am a trustee so still very involved and committed. xxx

  15. It is a glorious space, dear friend, and I am over the moon imagining all the creative, peaceful, productive, and restorative hours you’ll be spending there. So wonderful to see all of your amazing artwork, too! Perfectly perfect! 💕💕
Love to you and all your beloveds.

    • Thanks Kitty. I’m really enjoying sitting in there with a cuppa, it’s so peaceful. Just a few bits like shelves, sockets etc to sort now. I think the front of the apothecary will be softened with plants and hanging baskets, maybe a few lights….love and hugs to all.xxxx
